30 June Transact CEO and ActewAGL General Manager Ivan Slavich tells the Canberra Times, “We want a team in Canberra.”
   
15 July Ivan Slavich rings FFA’s CEO Ben Buckley; “We want in.”
   
18 July Ivan Slavich announces first investor, local entrepreneur Pawl Cubbin.
   
6 August 100 Ambassadors attend Canberra A-League briefing
   
13 August Ivan Slavich presents initial document to FFA Board. FFA board announce Canberra as a serious contender.
   
14 August Ivan Slavich announces ACT Government to give $2.5 million to the Canberra A-League team.
   
September FFA Confirm Gold Coast, Townsville confirm places for 2009/10 season
   
20 September Melbourne given exclusive negotiating status for 2010/11 season
   
30 September FFA announce Canberra, West Sydney and Wollongong are in line for  the final place in 2010/11 and the A-League may expand  to 14 teams in future.
   
10 October FFA Board meeting to announce the next stage for Canberra A-League bid.
   
16 October FFA state: Canberra in the mix for 12th spot.
