Heather Reid has been involved in football as a player, coach, manager, volunteer and paid administrator at local and national level since 1978.  She has a Graduate Diploma in Sport Management and has worked for Women's Soccer Australia, the Australian Sports Commission and the University of Canberra.  She was appointed CEO of ACT Football Federation in 2004 and has since forged the unification of four organisations into the single entity now known as Capital Football.  Heather is responsible to a six-member Board of Directors with a $2.6m budget, 15 staff, and more than 17,000 players. More recently she accepted the additional position of CEO of Canberra United FC, the newest national league team competing in the inaugural Westfield W-League.  Heather is recognised as a leader, mentor and inspirational figure within the sports industry. Her contributions to sport have been widely recognised with one of her greatest achievements being her induction into the Roll of Honour as a Member for Distinguished Contribution in the Football Australia Hall of Fame in 2007.

Heather is a fervent football supporter and believes the A-League must have a team from the national capital and region to make it a true national league. We have fantastic training and playing facilities in Canberra and we have consistently produced top-class players who are now playing in the A-League as well as with overseas clubs.

Capital Football is providing community, business and financial support for the A-League for Canberra initiative with Heather and two Board members on the bid committee.
